Ruth Bader Ginsburg 10 Things *YOU NEED* To Know!

I have two words and two words only to preface this article, and those two words are: Be Inspired! I don’t know about you, but for me and millions (maybe even billions) of people around the world, Ruth Bader Ginsburg was (and still is) a huge inspiration! Her list of accomplishments is a mile long and her influence spreads far and wide. You don’t have to be from the United States to appreciate and be inspired by Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Today’s post covers Ten Things (maybe More) that you should know about her, and celebrate in her honor. The last thing that I have to say before we get into this post is the same as the first, Be Inspired, because if she can do it, you can do it as well. Let’s get into it!

Ruth Bader Ginsburg 10 Things *You Need* To Know!

Who was Ruth Bader Ginsburg? : Ruth Bader Ginsburg became the second female justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Born in 1933 in Brooklyn, New York, Bader taught at Rutgers University Law School and then at Columbia University, where she became its first female tenured professor. She served as the director of the Women’s Rights Project of the American Civil Liberties Union during the 1970s and was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia in 1980. Named to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1993 by President Bill Clinton, she continued to argue for gender equality in such cases as United States v. Virginia. She died September 18, 2020, due to complications from metastatic pancreas cancer. (History.Com)

  • She Graduated *First* in her class from Columbia Law School

That’s right everyone! Not only was Ruth Bader Ginsburg admitted into Columbia Law School, she also graduated at the top of her class! If this doesn’t inspire you to focus on your studies and to believe in your ability to succeed, I really don’t know what will! Take this as an opportunity to look at your studies as an opportunity to better yourself and the world. Put in the work now, I promise that it will pay off! 🙂

  • She Fought For Gender Equality In and Out of The Court House

Ruth Bader Ginsburg took every opportunity to stand up for what she believed in. She didn’t wait for the approval of others or a certain moment in time to start being vocal about her beliefs. She let all of the horses out of the gates, in other words, she stood up for herself and her beliefs right away. I encourage all of you to do the same; don’t wait for the approval of others to go after your positive goals and dreams. Start today! Don’t wait for “the right time” it might never come because no day is promised.

  • She was the *First* woman to be on both the Harvard and Columbia Law Reviews

Ruth Bader Ginsburg moved mountains. She broke barriers that no one had ever broken before her, therefore, making a path for girls and women like you and me. Girls and women that are working to achieve all of their positive goals and dreams and to leave the world a bit better than they found it. Fellow dreamers, achievers, and world changers ready and willing to make a way for ourselves and a better future for the next generation. Be Inspired, I believe in you and now it’s time for you to truly believe in yourself!

  • She became the second female law professor at Rutgers Law School, *and* fought for equal pay while she was there

Not only did Ruth Bader Ginsburg become The First  Female Law Professor at Rutgers Law School, she also Made a case for equal pay while she was there *And Won*. This was a legendary move, having the courage to stand up for yourself and others is already hard enough as it is, but Ruth Bader Ginsburg was fearless. She is a huge inspiration to so many people (myself included), and I would have loved to have met her in person. She will not be forgotten as she inspires billions of girls and women globally every day.

  • She co-founded the first law journal on women’s rights

Is there anything that Ruth Bader Ginsburg can’t do? She inspires girls and women in every field. From law to writing to medicine (to honestly everything) she makes a way for the people that come after her and inspires all to be the best that they can be.

  • She became the *First* tenured female law professor at Columbia Law School

Again I say Wow! Columbia Law School is no Joke. Ruth Bader Ginsburg excelled there as a student, and came back years later to break more barriers. She became the first permanent female law professor at the school and made a way for *fingers crossed* even more in the future!

  • She co-founded the Women’s Rights Project at The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)

Does Ruth Bader Ginsburg even sleep? The flow of achievements never stops with her, and believe me, I am Glad!  It is because of her that many girls and women globally have the confidence to go after their dreams every day. I can only hope that someday I have a similar impact on girls and women everywhere. I encourage all of you to achieve all of your goals and dreams, be confident in yourself and your abilities, and to never limit your positive opportunities in life. Your future is bright!

  • She argued six cases in front of the Supreme Court *And Won Five*

Argued Six cases in front of the Supreme Court and Won Five?? Ruth Bader Ginsburg never ceases to amaze! The kind of courage, talent, and drive required to make history like this, is immense and I mean immense!  It’s clear that Ms. Ginsburg was a woman with a mission, and she didn’t even have to say “Houston We Have A Problem”  (Haha, I digress)

  • She became the first female Jewish Supreme Court Justice

Ruth Bader Ginsburg showed that your gender and religion don’t stop you from achieving great things. She changed the waters everywhere that she went, and she surely never disappointed. Don’t let anything or anyone dissuade you from following your dreams, there is nothing positive that you can’t do, and no dream that you can’t achieve.

  • She is one of the *Only Four* female justices in history

I can’t even find the words to express my happiness and joy at this one. Ruth Bader Ginsburg made it possible for girls and women like you and me to know and understand that we can truly achieve greatness if we set our minds to it. When I look at the list of achievement associated with Ms. Ginsburg, and feel inspired and empowered to be my very best self. I hope that you also find her inspiring and continue to believe in yourself and your ability to succeed. You are worth it!
