To All Of The First Responders: Thriving Through The Quarantine Series

Hello Everyone! Today I am posting a poem that I recently wrote to all of the First Responders. It is very important that we are thankful for all that they do during this time. They are kind people that are willing to put their lives on the line to keep us safe and healthy. If you are a First Responder reading this, please know that I am so grateful for the work that you are doing everyday to keep us safe. I hope that this poem relates to how you are feeling, gives you peace, and motivates you. Without further ado, here is the poem.

Hail First Responders

I’m not a First Responder

I’m not the one to call

Expected to be over

Rushing down the hall

But right now I am angry

That this virus came at all

I heard the call of duty

Felt inclined to heed the call

But right now I feel empty

Not suitable at all

I ran into the building

Doctor’s coat and all

I thought that I was angry

But I really feel helpless and small

The weight of the world on my shoulders

Not comfortable at all

The day that I took the Hippocratic Oath

Doesn’t seem far away at all

I try to help each patient

I’d give my life to give them theirs

But right now I feel so helpless

A bystander to the microbial war

I rush into the ICU prepared to do my best

I thought that I felt helpless,

Unfit to wear the badge

I realize that I am strong

And able to wage this war

This virus may be bad

But I’m willing to take it on

So I come to work each day

Proud to wear the badge

Doing my best to help each patient

Danger and all

Thank you so much for all that you do First Responders. I hope that you like this poem. To all of my readers, if you read this poem to all of the First Responders I hope that it inspires all of you to use your words for good. We all have the power of positive words and thinking, and it is up to us to motivate the world with our words. I hope that the Thriving Through The  Quarantine Series is helping to make this Quarantine more bearable for you. Next we will be talking about motivating the world with our words.

Dream-Succeed-Acheive,

Lilynator
